Clewer Leisure Painters

Sociable, Informal, Fun.

A sociable group of amateur artists who meet weekly (Friday AM) to paint or draw in the medium of their own choice. There is no set programme of work or formal instruction. We are very much a self-help group and happily wander around the hall during our tea-break looking at each other’s work and giving advice

A Great Way to feel better…

Get out of the house, meet people, and socialise, do something absorbing.

As we are all very aware that our health and overall wellbeing are influenced by our state of mind and our ability to relax. Many experts believe that having a hobby where you can become absorbed and take your mind off worries is a great help toward general health and mental wellbeing.

One such hobby can be drawing and painting.

The problem here is that many organised art groups are just that. “organised”.

Often, they are a regimented classroom where the whole class must draw the same flower with the exact same paints even the same colours. This can be very far from relaxing. Often traditional art classes leave people feeling pressured. They can seem threatening and sometimes too competitive, so they really fail to achieve the desired outcome in terms of wellbeing and relaxation.

Clewer Leisure Painters may have a solution, or at least an alternative. They are a small diverse group of people in a wide age range, who draw and paint at different skill levels, mostly beginners, working on their own ideas and setting their own achievable goals. Improving in their own time. They can offer each other help and advice, and even have a Mentor on the team who has many years of experience teaching art, but he is only an advisor, an aid, if needed. Nobody is told what to do, or how to do it. The meetings are as much social as practical and stop for a cuppa to ensure there is plenty of time to socialise! Meeting every week, for just a couple of hours gives continuity and stability without putting anyone under pressure.

Clewer Leisure Painters, meet every Friday morning at NWCA Hanover Way Windsor from 10am.

For around the price of a take-away coffee every week you could join!
